WHAT CIVILIAN BOYS HAVE DONE.
The Civilian Conservation Corps has been in operation
since April 1, 1933. At this time, there are 275,000 en-
rollees in 1500 camps; has graduated 2,500,000 youths,
that have cost the Government $2,800,000,000.
What have they done to justify such an enormous out-
lay of money? Director J J. McEntee gives the answer.
The boys have built 118,492 miles of truck trails; 6,000,-
000 miles of erosion check dams; 84,737 miles of tele-
phones; 101 radio stations; 24,969,797 rods of fence, and
68 airplane land, ing field, in addition to planting 2,060,-
403,000 trees, and spending 6,273.000 man days fighting
forest fires.

the mbrtgage and always had sufli'cient provisions and
grain for at least one more year.
Those who scoff at them like to illustrate the point by
telling of the farm boy who put a pumpkin in one end of a
and a rock in the other end, and balance it when-he
