Should doctors render itemizeJ
bill~ to their patients?
This is a question of p'rowing in-
terest and not p a r i i c u 1 a r 1 y
a mon.p, the low-lbracket class,
Many doctors "temper the wind!,
to the, shorn lamb," chargin~r the
poor far less than what would be
a fair price to a patient of mod-
erate means; in many cases, they
donate their services knowing the
poorest can never pay. But many
a patient who is a(ble to pay corn-
plains that Lhe invoice for "pro-
fessional services" at Lhe end of
month would "~o down" with at
least the ease of the doctor's med-
icine if the services were itemized.
Business men, most profe~ion-
als, tradesmen, lalborers and men-
tals are required to death, orally
at least, the services for which
they expect renumeration. But the
doctor expects you to pay him an
mitemized sum for whatever it is
he has professionally done for you.
